The name Voltaboards is a mix of the energy unit volt and board of skateboards/longboards. The Volta part is from the Italian called Alessandro Volta. Alessandro Volta was a physicist who invented the electric battery in 1800. The worldwide known energy unit Volt (V) is named after its last name.
